Massive Counterfeit Edible Oil Operation Dismantled in Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police Crack Down on Food Fraud Ring
In a major breakthrough in the fight against counterfeit food products, the Hudkeshwar Police have successfully busted a large-scale fake edible oil manufacturing and distribution racket operating from Kurla, located on the Outer Ring Road in Nagpur. The counterfeiters were found replicating two leading edible oil brandsтАФFortune Soya Health Oil and Ambuja Gold Refined Soyabean OilтАФposing serious threats to public health and consumer trust.
The raid was conducted on Sunday, February 16, 2025, following a complaint filed by the Intellectual Property Investigation & Detective Services (IPINDS) team. An FIR (No. 0101/2025) was registered a day earlier, and swift action was taken under the leadership of Police Inspector Mr. Dnyaneshwar Mukundrao from the Hudkeshwar Police Station.
Widespread Retail Involvement Uncovered:
During the investigation, six retail outlets were identified as actively involved in selling counterfeit Fortune edible oil. The businesses include:

Rajesh Kirana (Dayaram Hiraram Gupta)

New Hari Om Kirana (Vinod Yashwant Sonkusare)

Hanumant Kirana (Rahul Purshotam Dengre)

Chakradhar Kirana (Ravi Naresh Borkar)
Among them, Mr. Nilesh Dilip Shahu was identified as the key operator, managing both the manufacturing unit and storage facility, while also serving as the sole distributor of the counterfeit Ambuja Gold oil.

The accused have been booked under multiple legal provisions:

Value of Seized Goods and Key Items:
Authorities recovered counterfeit goods and materials with a total estimated market value of тВ╣8,56,530 (Eight lakh fifty-six thousand five hundred thirty rupees).
Items seized during the operation include:

Counterfeit Ambuja Gold stickers and branded packaging rolls

Branded cartons and packaging tools

Equipment used in oil processing and packaging

A Tata Intra Tempo (MH49 AT 88047) used for illegal distribution

An electric pump, weighing scale, and two oil-filled drums

12 empty AWL tins and additional packaging items

Five samples reserved for laboratory testing
