Authorities Bust Counterfeit Building Material Operation in Virar: Fake Gypframe Xpert Metal Products Seized
In a significant development in the fight against counterfeiting, authorities in Palghar district successfully uncovered a counterfeit operation involving building materials, specifically targeting the branded тАЬGypframe Xpert MetalтАЭ, a registered product of M/S Saint Gobain India Private Limited.
The breakthrough came on Saturday, 8th February 2025, when officials from the Nalasopara Police Station, under the direction of Senior Police Inspector Mr. Vishal Prabhakar, launched a coordinated enforcement action based on a formal complaint lodged by the Intellectual Property Investigation & Detective Services (IPINDS) team.
Operation Overview:
The raid was conducted at a specific premises in Prabhat, Bolinj Naka, Agashi Road, Virar West, where police intercepted a substantial quantity of counterfeit construction products being misrepresented as genuine Gypframe Xpert Metal. These falsified materials were allegedly intended for use in the local construction market, posing serious risks to structural integrity, consumer safety, and brand reputation.
Legal Action:
An FIR (No. 0041/2024) was officially filed the same day. The prime accused, identified as Kamal Parasnath Yadav, is currently under investigation. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Copyright Act, 1957, including:
