Counterfeit тАШSleep Well AggarbattiтАЩ Products Seized in Dual Store Raids
In a strategic crackdown on intellectual property violations, the IPINDS Team, in collaboration with Nizamabad I Town Police Station, unearthed a case of counterfeit incense products being deceptively sold under the well-known brand name тАЬSleep Well Aggarbatti.тАЭ The enforcement action, registered under FIR No. 0099/2025, was spearheaded by Senior Police Inspector Mr. Bodakuntla Raghupathi.
The operation focused on two retail outlets in Nizamabad. At Krishna Fancy General Store, Mr. Kishan Singh was found stocking a substantial quantity of imitation agarbattis falsely labeled under the trusted тАЬSleep WellтАЭ brand. Simultaneously, Ramdev Confectionary, operated by Mr. Libaram, was also discovered retailing similar counterfeit products, suggesting a possible network of unauthorized distribution.
Authorities believe the imitation items were part of a larger deceptive trade practice designed to mislead consumers and exploit brand credibility.
Legal action has been initiated under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957, and Sections 318(4) and 349 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which address crimes related to counterfeiting and threats to public safety.
This operation underscores the growing threat of counterfeit FMCG products infiltrating local markets and reinforces the importance of ongoing surveillance, coordinated enforcement, and brand protection efforts in maintaining consumer trust and product authenticity.
