In a major breakthrough against product counterfeiting, the Itwa Police Station in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, in close coordination with the IPINDS Team, successfully dismantled an illegal manufacturing and distribution unit producing fake EASTMAN branded batteries. The raid was launched following a formal complaint from the brand’s representatives, resulting in the registration of FIR No. 0040/2025.
The operation, led by Senior PSI Mr. Prakash Yadav, targeted a commercial entity named тАЬSupreme PowerтАЭ, located on Barhni Road near the Indian Oil Petrol Pump in Itwa Bazar. Investigators uncovered a sophisticated counterfeiting setup, involving the production and sale of fraudulent EASTMAN batteries and packaging materials, all intended to deceive consumers under the appearance of authenticity.
The raid resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit goods, including falsely branded batteries, imitation labels, forged barcode stickers, fake warranty cards, and empty battery packagingтАФall bearing the EASTMAN name illegally. The key accused, Abdul Kalam, along with another suspect, has been implicated in the operation.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957, marking a serious legal response to this violation of intellectual property rights and public trust.
