Counterfeit Polycab Wire Racket Busted in Yavatmal: Two Arrested in Coordinated Enforcement Action

In a coordinated enforcement action, Pusad City Police, along with the IPINDS Team, conducted a raid on 30th March 2026 at multiple locations in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, targeting entities involved in the sale and distribution of counterfeit Polycab wires.
The operation was carried out with active enforcement support from local authorities, ensuring lawful compliance and procedural execution during the raid. Acting on credible intelligence, the team identified the circulation of counterfeit electrical wires in the region.
The raid targeted Ramdev Electricals and Mahadev Electrical, both wholesalers operating from Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Motinagar, Pusad, Yavatmal. The enforcement action was led by Senior Police Inspector Sevanand Wamani and Investigating Officer PSI Premkumar Kedar, in coordination with the IPINDS Team.
Two individuals involved in the illegal trade have been apprehended and taken into custody. Authorities seized a substantial quantity of counterfeit electrical wires falsely bearing the brand name тАЬPOLYCAB,тАЭ intended for distribution in local and regional markets.
All seized goods have been prima facie identified as counterfeit products. The nature of the goods raises serious concerns regarding consumer safety, as substandard electrical wires pose potential fire hazards and infrastructure risks.
An FIR bearing No. 0247/2026 has been registered under Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957. Further legal provisions under the Trade Marks Act, 1999, including Sections 103 and 104, are expected to be invoked subject to the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
The police and enforcement authorities are continuing a detailed investigation to trace the wider supply chain and distribution network associated with this counterfeit operation.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying enforcement actions against counterfeit trade, particularly in sectors impacting public safety and infrastructure.
