Counterfeit Crackdown in Nizamabad: Major Raid Uncovers Fake Polycab Wires at Local Business
Nizamabad:
In a major offensive against the illicit trade of counterfeit electrical goods, the Nizamabad Town-I Police, in collaboration with the IPINDS Team, conducted a high-stakes raid on Devi Road that led to the discovery of a substantial stock of fake Polycab wires being illegally sold under the reputed brand name of Polycab India Limited.
The targeted operation, carried out under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Mr. Bodakuntla Raghupathi, was initiated following the registration of FIR No. 0110/2025, reinforcing the authoritiesтАЩ commitment to combating intellectual property infringement and consumer deception.
The accused, Jhutaram Chodhary, who was operating under the business name Rajeshawar & Sanitary Electrical, was apprehended for allegedly stocking and distributing a significant quantity of counterfeit wires. These fake products were being passed off as genuine, thereby misleading unsuspecting customers.
Authorities seized a large number of wires in multiple specifications, all falsely labeled and marketed as authentic Polycab products. Legal proceedings are now underway under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957, as well as Sections 349 and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023.
This successful operation is a part of ongoing efforts to dismantle counterfeit networks and uphold brand authenticity in the electrical goods market. Officials have once again reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against such fraudulent practices and promised strict action against violators.
ЁЯФФ Consumer Advisory:
