Counterfeit Electrical Goods Worth Over ₹2.25 Lakh Seized in Bengaluru
In a decisive enforcement move against the circulation of counterfeit electrical products, Bengaluru Police successfully seized a large stock of fake V-Guard and Polycab wires, valued at over ₹2.25 lakh.
The raid was conducted in Kumbalgodu, Mysore Road, by officials from the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Police Station, under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Shive Kumar. The operation was launched following a formal complaint lodged by the IPINDS Team (Intellectual Property Investigation and Surveillance).
Legal action has been initiated under Sections 51(B) and 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
Seizure Highlights:
Authorities confirmed that counterfeit wires branded as V-Guard and Polycab were being stored and distributed under the pretense of authenticity. The total value of seized goods has been estimated at ₹2,25,190, exposing a serious risk to both consumer safety and brand trust.
The key accused, Ramesh, has been apprehended and is believed to be part of a larger supply chain targeting unsuspecting consumers and retailers with fraudulent electrical items.
Official Statement:
Senior PI Shive Kumar warned of the dangers of counterfeit electrical products, noting that such items often lack proper safety standards and could result in fire hazards, short circuits, and severe harm to life and property.
He further appealed to consumers to buy only from authorized outlets and to verify product authenticity before use.
Ongoing Investigation:
Authorities are expanding their probe to uncover the entire network involved in the production and distribution of these fake goods. Further arrests and raids are anticipated in connection with the case.
