Major Haul of Counterfeit Harpic, Lizol, and Colin Seized in Mumbai Raid
In a significant crackdown on counterfeit consumer goods, Kurla Police have seized a large quantity of fake Harpic, Lizol, and Colin products from a residential premises in Mumbai. The raid, which was carried out at Moon Apartment, Pipe Road, Kurla, marks a major step in combating the sale of counterfeit cleaning supplies in Maharashtra.
The operation was initiated following a formal complaint filed by the IPINDS Team (Intellectual Property Investigation and Surveillance). The case has been registered under FIR No. 0032/2025 on January 22, 2025, and was led by Senior Police Inspector Mr. Pramod B. Toradmal of Kurla Police Station.
Legal Action Taken:
The primary accused, Imran Hafiz Khan, has been booked under Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957, for his involvement in the unauthorized manufacturing and sale of counterfeit branded household cleaning products.
The counterfeit items bore the brand names of Harpic, Lizol, and Colin, which are widely used and trusted across Indian households. These fake products not only infringe on intellectual property rights but also pose serious health and safety risks to consumers.
Estimated Seizure Value:
Authorities estimate the total market value of the confiscated counterfeit products to be approximately тВ╣1,26,234. The seized items were intended for distribution in the local market and mimic original packaging to mislead consumers.
