Major Seizure of Counterfeit VEET Products in Bhiwandi

In a significant crackdown on counterfeit consumer goods, enforcement authorities in Bhiwandi seized a large quantity of fake VEET products being illegally sold in the Bhaji Market area of Shanti Nagar. The raid was executed on Thursday, January 9th, 2025, following a formal complaint filed by the IPINDS Team, which works to protect intellectual property rights in India.


ЁЯСо Enforcement Action

The operation was carried out by officials from the Shanti Nagar Police Station under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Mr. Vinayak Daulatrao. The suspect, Saifee Abdul Gaffar Shah, was arrested at the scene.

A significant number of counterfeit units imitating the popular VEET brand, which is owned by M/S Reckitt Benckiser India, were discovered during the search. The fake products were found to be closely mimicking genuine packaging and branding, raising serious concerns about public health risks due to possible use of substandard or harmful ingredients.


ЁЯУЭ Legal Proceedings

An official case has been registered under FIR No. 0182/2025 at the Shanti Nagar Police Station. Legal action is being pursued under:

  • Section 51 and Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957

Authorities are now investigating whether the suspect is part of a larger counterfeit distribution network, and further enforcement efforts are expected.
