In a major enforcement breakthrough, the Bengaluru police seized counterfeit cigarettes valued at ₹45,00,000 (Forty-Five Lakhs) during a targeted operation on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The action took place near Dayananda College footpath in Kumaraswamy Layout, resulting in the arrest of two suspects—Abdul Nishad and Shakeel—believed to be key players in a broader counterfeit distribution network.

👮 Enforcement Operation

The operation was initiated following a complaint filed by the IPINDS Team, which works to combat intellectual property violations across India. The case has been formally registered under FIR No. 0004/2025 at Kumaraswamy Layout Police Station. The raid was led by Senior Police Inspector Mr. Jagadish R., who confirmed the high-value seizure.

The fake cigarette consignment was allegedly being distributed across Karnataka and Maharashtra, raising red flags over a multi-state illicit trade network.
